MORE THAN BOOKS AND BUILDINGS
Every Child A Reader
Last year, 30,000 children and parents dove into carefully selected books, building a shared reading routine at home.
Every Child A Reader is our library's largest, most comprehensive early literacy effort. A team of bilingual librarians works with Head Starts, home health workers, immigrant and refugee programs, and teen parent programs to reach families who face the toughest literacy risks, such as poverty and generational low literacy.
Tens of thousands of books in more than 30 languages and cultures make their way home to families. Every Child a Reader also educates parents with practical guidance and easy actions that any parent can take to nurture early brain development.

“I love everything about the program — it motivated my son to read more. It is like a responsibility that he has, but he enjoys doing it.”
