MORE THAN BOOKS AND BUILDINGS

Leave a legacy

The most rewarding part of making a planned gift is the knowledge that generations of children and adults will be transformed by your generosity.

Libraries are a fundamental part of our lives. We remember them from our childhood as warm places full of stories and books. We introduce them with pride to the children in our lives. We turn to them as adults to educate ourselves about the world.

Individuals and families who give to The Library Foundation bring the power of literacy to more than 150,000 children and adults each year. These gifts allow librarians to expand their work beyond library walls, reaching children from birth through high school with innovative literacy programs.

Gifts to The Library Foundation do not fund basic library operations. Instead, we work closely with librarians to determine where private funding can expand and enhance the library’s work, helping the library offer books and programs and undertake building renovations that might not be possible otherwise.

The Library Foundation is the nonprofit designated to receive bequests and other planned gifts to benefit Multnomah County Library. Naming The Library Foundation as a beneficiary will enable you to support Multnomah County Library, and, in some instances, receive tax benefits.
