MORE THAN BOOKS AND BUILDINGS

What we do

The Library Foundation is a lean, nimble nonprofit that partners with librarians to expand Multnomah County Library's exceptional work and impact. We partner with librarians to determine where private support will enable the library to test and expand programs and initiatives, especially those that make a life-changing difference for children facing the risk factors for low literacy.

Last year, the library reached more than 200,000 children and adults with programs, books, and literacy initiatives made possible by gifts to The Library Foundation. We focus on early literacy, school-age success, and learning for life. Our supporters help the library reach children and families in every neighborhood and school district across our community, especially those facing the risk factors for low literacy. Over the next two years, we will also support an array of transformational building projects at eight new or expanded libraries.

The Library Foundation is the nonprofit designated by Multnomah County Library to receive bequests and planned gifts, large and small, that benefit the library.
